I think you're wrong. 30-pin SIMMs come in 256k, 1mb, and 4mb (maybe also 16mb if you're lucky) sizes. There's no way to get 1/3 out of that. Not to mention, you can't get 1/3 out of ANY memory technology (what good is 1/3 of a bit? Moreover... what is it? 0 or 1/3?) More likely, you have 8mb, and the BIOS reported only 7808kb (8mb - 384k), b/c DOS 'reserves' 384k--that's why systems with 1mb reported 640k. -- Jonathan ----- Original Message ----- From: "James Lancaster" <[email protected]> To: <[email protected]> Sent: Wednesday, December 25, 2002 8:24 PM Subject: [linux-help] Re: Kool download complete linux off of CD Works > > On Friday 20 December 2002 20:16, you wrote: > > Just curious... how the heck did you get 6 2/3 mb of RAM? > > > > 4 1MB and 4 2/3MB (don't ask how) 30-pin simms.
