I took linux off of my desktop at home because it would not run the voodoo 3. If you get it going, please let me know how, and I can put my linux back on.... I just replaced my onboard SiS video card (a long and annoying process on the HP pavillion I use) with a Vodoo 3 2000 PCI. It is a million times faster, but I'm getting kernel errors: Jan 28 10:18:05 linux1 kernel: Unable to handle kernel paging request at virtual address d4aed057 Jan 28 10:18:05 linux1 kernel: printing eip: Jan 28 10:18:05 linux1 kernel: c012a57c Jan 28 10:18:05 linux1 kernel: *pde = 00000000 Jan 28 10:18:05 linux1 kernel: Oops: 0002 Jan 28 10:18:05 linux1 kernel: soundcore binfmt_misc printer autofs tulip ide-scsi scsi_mod ide-cd cdrom usb- Jan 28 10:18:05 linux1 kernel: CPU: 0 Jan 28 10:18:05 linux1 kernel: EIP: 0010:[<c012a57c>] Not tainted Jan 28 10:18:05 linux1 kernel: EFLAGS: 00210206 Jan 28 10:18:05 linux1 kernel: Jan 28 10:18:05 linux1 kernel: EIP is at filemap_nopage [kernel] 0xbc (2.4.18-5) Jan 28 10:18:05 linux1 kernel: eax: c119d35c ebx: c7ea4c94 ecx: c7ea4c94 edx: 0000001a Jan 28 10:18:05 linux1 kernel: esi: 0000001c edi: 0000001a ebp: cfd58aa4 esp: c0e85e60 Jan 28 10:18:05 linux1 kernel: ds: 0018 es: 0018 ss: 0018 Jan 28 10:18:05 linux1 kernel: Process evolution-execu (pid: 1507, stackpage=c0e85000) Jan 28 10:18:05 linux1 kernel: Stack: c7ea4c94 0000001a cfd58aa4 0000001c c7ea4be0 c7ea4c94 c9ac65c0 00000100 Jan 28 10:18:05 linux1 kernel: 00000000 c01322c2 c02157e1 c0e7d0e0 c012a4c0 c0e7d0e0 c7ffa5c0 c0126751 Jan 28 10:18:05 linux1 kernel: c7ffa5c0 41052000 00000000 c0e7d0e0 c0e7d0e0 c0e7d0e0 c7ffa5c0 c01269d4 Jan 28 10:18:06 linux1 kernel: Call Trace: [<c01322c2>] __alloc_pages [kernel] 0x72 Jan 28 10:18:06 linux1 kernel: [<c02157e1>] rb_insert_color [kernel] 0x61 Jan 28 10:18:06 linux1 kernel: [<c012a4c0>] filemap_nopage [kernel] 0x0 Jan 28 10:18:06 linux1 kernel: [<c0126751>] do_no_page [kernel] 0x51 Jan 28 10:18:06 linux1 kernel: [<c01269d4>] handle_mm_fault [kernel] 0xe4 Jan 28 10:18:06 linux1 kernel: [<c01276e5>] do_mmap_pgoff [kernel] 0x5b5 Jan 28 10:18:06 linux1 kernel: [<c011421b>] do_page_fault [kernel] 0x12b Jan 28 10:18:06 linux1 kernel: [<c010d14d>] old_mmap [kernel] 0xed Jan 28 10:18:06 linux1 kernel: [<c010d175>] old_mmap [kernel] 0x115 Jan 28 10:18:06 linux1 kernel: [<c012c557>] sys_mprotect [kernel] 0x117 Jan 28 10:18:06 linux1 kernel: [<c013894d>] filp_close [kernel] 0x4d Jan 28 10:18:07 linux1 kernel: [<c01140f0>] do_page_fault [kernel] 0x0 Jan 28 10:18:07 linux1 kernel: [<c0108a64>] error_code [kernel] 0x34 Jan 28 10:18:07 linux1 kernel: Jan 28 10:18:07 linux1 kernel: Jan 28 10:18:07 linux1 kernel: Code: ff 89 c3 83 c4 0c 85 db 74 2c 8b 43 18 83 e0 08 74 62 8b 4c Jan 28 10:20:50 linux1 kernel: <3>swap_dup: Bad swap file entry 0713f044 Jan 28 10:20:50 linux1 kernel: VM: killing process tcsh any ideas? -- Clint Brubakken <[email protected]> Programmer Analyst Inetic Web Development --- Black holes are where God divided by zero. -- This is the [email protected] list.
