I think it depends most on what your MUA supports.  Moz Mail may well be
capable of using maildir, but I've only seen it use mbox format.  mbox
format support seems quite universal plus I can read the NS and Moz mail
files with Mutt with no problem.  The only other issue I can think of
would be a higher usage of inodes with maildir than mbox, but this is
probably not an issue on today's large disks.
