Book club style engineering/hack club

My roommates have a monthly book club. They read a book and then get together to have snacks and discuss it. I was wondering if people would be interested in doing something similar except with technology/hacking. The idea would be is we have a monthly topic we can work with. The topic could be anything from stupid FPGA tricks (hardware, low level, etc), node.js tricks (something purely software), drones (cheap toys), etc. At the end of the month we get together, show off some cool things we did, discuss the technology, have some snacks, and then start over for the next month.
