Has been years and on a different computer so not in my bash history. I remember it defaulting to pulling every file at or below the link and not following any external links. So the "--no-parent" may be causing your problem. Twice when I learned of someone passing and once when a small company was lost in a divorce, downloaded and archived entire smallish websites. So wget -r www.somecritersite.com was what I think I used. Oh, and absolutely shocked it worked!
