Folks,
I've been invited to be a delegate in Washington, DC at the National
Council on Disability summit commemorating the 20th Anniversary of the
ADA. I've been assigned to participate in the Technology and
Telecommunications track.
I've never done anything like this, couldn't imagine they'd select me
since I've been unemployed for so long, and in general - figured folks
like me are just dismissed in general (as we are when we're disabled
over 55).
So - I'd like to use this opportunity to "lobby" for a stronger
representation by the CHI community in general in IT stuff at this
level. Your concerns, thoughts, etc. re accessibility - particularly
you folks in the Bay area ("my people")... please send.
I'm also going to have to raise some $ to do this since I live
entirely on SSDI now (less than $1500 a month) and one has to pay
their own expenses to get and stay there.
Have any of you attended? What was your experience.
Many thanks,
LjRose
