Brainstorming here...how about a Mark Zuckerberg/Facemash/"hot or 
not"-style exercise where they compare pairs of video clips from 
usability tests and pick the most egregious usability problem? You'd 
give usability newbies plenty of exposure to the kinds of problems 
that are out there and that can be discovered and solved with the 
help of testing.
