Hi Bob, In reality laptops will supply a fair bit more juice, for starters the power is typically shared between two ports. Then there is a nice margin on top of the spec limit. I wouldn't be surprised if you can pull over 10W before the laptop gets grumpy. Not standards compliant and performance will vary laptop to laptop but for personal use I doubt you care.
