I once lost a job opportunity because I didn't recognize the fact that "seequell" was the same as "es cue ell".  I'd only heard "es cue ell" at the time.  They couldn't believe that I knew my way around an RDBMS without knowing that "crucial" fact.

I now say "seequell".
