I do not think there are any 3rd party Skype voice clients. I have heard of some other IM clients that will do IM via the Skype network but even those are very unreliable. There are more open VoIP networks, like Google Talk I think (which is based on Jabber), that have multi-platform apps and lots of good reliable solutions.
