Martin,

NFS is generally regarded as insecure when on the net, but between two PC's
it is probably secure enough. It does deal well with linux file
permissions etc, but this may not be what you want.

Depending on how permissions are set, files created by user A on computer A
will not be accessible by user B on computer A. Similarly with Computer
B. If you envisage files created by anybody being read by anybody (the
usual MSW setup ;-)) it might be easiest to use Samba.

  Back to NFS

You have to share on each computer and you have to mount the shares on each
PC. The need to be remounted each time that you start and that means
entries in fstab, etc. I am not familiar with Suse, but I presume that it
works in generally the same way.

I suggest that you concentrate on getting a share up on one PC and then set
the other up so that it can "see" that share. Then make sure that set
permissions are set to allow read, write etc. Work through it step by step
and once you have that going work through the process on the other computer.

User numbers and names are important, as I recall.

I might have a Howto somewhere - let me know of you would like it and I
will dig it out.
