My understanding is that Wine is a linux platform which allow you to run
Windows applications, therefore, https should be no problem since any
browser on Wine would be able to support it.

IE works on Wine?  That would be a big step forward!  I just checked the
Gold/Silver list on http://www.winehq.com/site/supported_applications
and found IE is not there yet.  Do you think this list is outdated?
