Re: Fedora Core 2

Hi!!

I had a couple of hours free in the week end and I tried Fedora core 2.
I installed it on my 4 years old laptop, AMD K6 450 with 156 Mb Ram and 
a shitty video card. was the laptop I used before the ibook.
Installation is unbelievable  easy, I just wonder if installation 
instruction are anymore useful, in my point of view the only critical 
point is the HD partitioning, the rest is smooth.
I choose the "desktop" installation that is suitable also for notebook. 
PCMCIA that under mandrake never worked with fedora seems no problems, 
Video ok without any artifacts, Audio ok, I have to test the rest but I 
have no doubt, maybe just the Winmodem but I will see this evening.

The first impression is a very responsive system, even on a so old box. 
A clean interface with a good selection of the best Open source 
software.
After year using Mandrake maybe I'm not to much used to "redmond 
hat"/fedora philosophy  but I can appreciate the good product.

BTW
I bought the Fedora core 2 distro in a software shop in Town, I think 
is the same distributor that used to sell Redmond Hat. available in  
the shops u can find two boxes, one with 4 cds at 38 RMB and the other 
with 9 CDs at 68 RMB
