My office building's BOFH has denied all ping packets in and *out* of the
building.

How the hell am I supposed to monitor my remote servers from my desk?  I'm
not about to expose my production servers to bad guys by opening SNMP.

Any ideas?  A piece of wet string between here and the datacenter perhaps?
Carrier pigeons?  The power of prayer?
