Simon, you can probably take this up with the building (or their ISP
provider).  It doesn't seem logical for them to do what they do. There
is hope.

Other than that, we use port 80 heartbeat ping'ing for one server that's
got ping blocked going into the IDC. :-/

Shutting down ping sucks, though.
