Matteo,

I presume that you are running Samba 2. something.
Are the user names and passwords exactly the same in the windows machines 
and Samba?
(I recall that they are case sensitive).

When you say you cannot connect, do you mean that absolutely nothing 
happens or does a logon dialogue open?
Are the XP machines set to the Windows default workgroup (OFFICE) and is 
that different to the one in Samba?
