rpm / apt question

Hi guys,

Making progress on FC2.  Yum seems to work.  Now trying to get APT to work.

Downloaded an apt rpm pacakge and used 

rpm -i /tmp/apt-0.5.15cnc6-1.1.fc2.fr.i386.rpm

There was an error as I cannot find an executible file anywhere.  However, I do
see /etc/apt and /usr/lib/apt.

I then tried to reinstall using rpm -Uhv and I get the message
 
        package apt-0.5.15cnc6-1.1.fc2.fr is already installed

I thought I'd try to uninstall by typing 

rpm -e apt-0.5.15cnc6-1.1.fc2.fr.i386.rpm

and I get the message

error: package apt-0.5.15cnc6-1.1.fc2.fr.i386.rpm is not installed

Any ideas?
