Ola, my own team uses subversion (SVN) as the main document sharing
system between offices. This allows us to keep track of old versions,
reduces clashes (people overwriting each other's changes) and
provides a generally good system for online collaboration. There are
clients for windows and linux.

The only problem with it is that the user must remember to hit the
'update' button on most clients. If you want a more seamless version,
you may want to look into Webdav. Haven't used it much, but it usually
looks like a folder on the systems I've used that everyone else
accesses.

You might also look into setting up remote samba shares.
