Going outside is a treacherous proposition, granted. However we owe it to our forefathers to go! We owe it to every drunk bugger out there that has rung in the new year with a bad drunken start! We owe it to every relationship that was prematurely consummated under the haze of drunken new years revelry! We owe it to the concept that "New year" embodies. "A fresh start". And what better way to take advantage of the fresh start than being emboldened by alcohol! We owe it to our lives, that are ending one minute at a time, to not waste the socially acceptable rite of new years inebriation. We owe it to our existence to not let nature or world politics stand in the way of any vague excuse for a piss up! But most of all, we owe it to the children. Not to let them down, to give them something to continue to look up at in a world full of uncertainty. To let them know that in times of peril, cold weather and Tsunami's, there are still some brave souls in this world who will put themselves second and step out to do what must be done - and damn the consequences! Be strong penguins. I shall try my hardest and if I meet some of you out - I shall look forward to knocking a few steins back with you. Happy New Year!
