Hi
It depends can you read and talk in Chinese. If you can, you could visit a
site called www.tompda.com to find some 2nd hand stuff. And in ZhongGuanCun
you can also find some. If you can't I recommend you get help or just buy
new one.

Hi all,

I am a lurker on this list and now that I am days away from
arriving in Beijing, I wanted to ask a few questions about
getting equipment. I am wondering how easy it is to put together
a machine out of components or to buy barebones kits that I
can build out. Alternatively, is there an active second-hand
market for machines with something like at least athlon 2400
power? I am especially interested in finding a relatively
high quality 19inch monitor for graphics work or 21inch if
not cost prohibitive. I know the layout of Beijing generally
but not yet in detail so any directions would be helpful as
well as rough prices I should expect to pay.

My first priority is a monitor as I can use with my laptop
in the short term. Once I'm settled in, I would like to
partcipate further in the LUG. Thanks in advance.

Jeff
