Gmail and Fedora Core 2 / Ximian mail 1.4 / pop3

Hi guys,

Trying to configure Fedora Core 2 Ximian 1.4 to work with Google's gmail POP3.
I can read mail just fine, but can't send.  

Question -- Does Ximian support SMTP authentication?

Don't see where I can enter Incoming and Outgoing Port information in the Ximan 
set up screen.

Is there a better mail reader for Linux out there?

Gmail is suggesting the following settings for the mail client:

Incoming Mail (POP3) Server – requires SSL: pop.gmail.com
Use SSL: Yes
Port: 995  
Outgoing Mail (SMTP) Server – requires TLS: smtp.gmail.com (use authentication)
Use Authentication: Yes
Use STARTTLS: Yes (some clients call this SSL)
Port: 465 or 587  
Account Name:  your Gmail username (including '@gmail.com')  
Email Address:  your full Gmail email address ([email protected])  
Password:  your Gmail password  

Please note that if your client does not support SMTP authentication, you won't 
be able to send mail through your client using your Gmail address.
