Re: email isp recommendation

I think adding email to the list of topics for the next meeting is a good idea. Another new member, Ralf, had also wanted to discuss why not many people in his company understand apllicable uses for Linux in the general office environment.

Max I would be interested in the prototype you discussed and like Fred I wouldn't mind contributing how our company gets around the blocks, we devised our system by using a page in the Accenture playbook ;) It works but still requires human intervention with small ISPs and private companies

Hi Fred,

I did get one response in private email (which I'm looking into), but
making this the subject of a BLUG meeting sounds like a great idea!

I actually did some work on a prototype system for another BeiJing
company. It worked by picking up and sending mail via a fastmail
account. Worked like a charm. It never got into production though, since
we decided the maintenance required was beyond their permanent
resources. I ended up setting them up on LuxSci, which worked really
nicely - but they do report occasional access problems when using
Microsoft Outlook; about once a week, for a few minutes. I recommended
trying a different email client, if only for debugging purposes...don't
know how that went yet.

Anyway, I'd love to know about other companies' experiences.
