Job Description
Software development engineering role for an enterprise class Mail Filtering product.
Candidate is responsible for conducting high and low level design and code development.
Must be able to work closely in a team environment and also independently. Works with
project architect, lead designers, and third party contractors to develop and implement
subsystem code changes to satisfy system functional requirements.
Requirements
* BS/MS/PhD in CS or equivalent.
* Strong Java skills and object oriented design experience, including working
knowledge of core libraries, design patterns, JSP and servlets.
* English language skills a must.
* Excellent knowledge of Unix/Linux.
* Excellent knowledge of shell scripting.
* Excellent knowledge of Perl, Python, or other scripting language.
* Excellent knowledge of Internet technologies, such as ESMTP, DNS, LDAP, HTTP.
* Excellent analytical and problem solving skills.
* Excellent oral and written communication skills.
* Knowledge of distributed systems.
* Knowledge of network security.
* Knowledge of low level network protocols a plus.
* Knowledge of mail mime formats a plus.
* Knowledge of SQL a plus.
* Knowledge of open source development tools a plus.

Job Description
SurfControl is looking for world-class Junior System Engineers to help us ensure that our
software and infrastructure is designed and implemented to the highest security, stability
and performance standards. If you enjoy probing applications and reviewing code for problems
this position will provide you with a unique opportunity. You will be performing security,
stability and performance audits and code-reviews on SurfControl's RiskFilter - E-mail
product. You will also work closely with SurfControls's Software Engineers to enhance our
application security, stability and performance posture.
Requirements
* BS in Computer Science or equivalent.
* Strong English skills a must.
* Experience in application-level development, testing and code-level auditing.
* Strong general Computer Science background; solid understanding of computer architecture,
operating systems, networking.
* Experience in at least two of the following areas: performance tuning, software
optimization, software auditing, software glass-box testing.
* Significant experience in web-application tuning.
* Significant development experience in C, C++ or Java.
* Experience with network protocols HTTP, ESMTP, LDAP, DNS a plus.
* Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
* Results oriented, high energy, self-motivated.
