Their web site seems to be inaccessible from China for some reason (it has been for a long time) : <http://anonymouse.org/cgi-bin/anon-www.cgi/http://www.wiebetech.com/incl= udes/home/featuredproductx.php?item=3D1> With USB drives, I would choose one with capacity less than 80GB - I have found that drives with 80GB or higher draw more power than can be supplied by USB, and you have to resort to strange combinations of cables to get power from other ports (keyboard/pcmcia/etc). Very inconvenient. I guess this is dependant on the drive though - perhaps newer ones draw less power (I doubt it somehow). However, firewire also has it's problems as most laptops don't supply power through the firewire port at all (they have the smaller 4-pin port). In fact, the only ones I've found with 6-pin firewire ports are Apple's. If anyone knows of a non-Apple laptop that has a 6-pin firewire port (or two), I'd like to hear about it. Of course, you can get an enclosure that has both firewire and usb, so that's probably a good option, as well as getting one with external power (most do). Purchasing a pcmcia/cardbus/whatever card, so the drive has all the power from that port, may be a good idea too. Just my tuppence worth... Max.
