Hi Jens,

I run Beryl on XGL, but this is only because XGL is more popular these
days... and it comes with xserver-xorg package. So you are right that
XGL is easier/handier for end-users and that's why many users have
chosen it.

XGL works to replace Xorg (confusing term! it is actually X library)
while AIGLX is server extension to X server. I never used AIGLX before,
but a friend of mine using it on his IBM X30 laptop and it looks just as
cool as XGL.

I haven't found any conflict key bindings while using Beryl, if there is
one, I guess I just need to change it in "Customize Key Shortcuts" under
system menu. Both Beryl/Compiz looks really cool, they are eye candies
which doesn't carry much task oriented features - if there is one, they
created better user experience with their computer, cause "prettiness is
a feature".

The development of Beryl/Compiz shows the energy/creativity/flexibility
of open source development - its dazzling speed of converting the best
code to applications and to deploy it on the same day. No commercial OS
could do this.
