Re: Web Design Feedback

Hi BLUGers!

I would like to make some suggestions for the new BLUG site:

1. In general the design should be a little more friendly and colorful! Als=
o all sub-sections (like mailing-list, photos, etc.) should appear in the s=
ame design, or with a kind of BLUG homepage "frame" around! When I look at =
a mailing list posting in the mailing list archive at the current site, I h=
ave to press many times the back button to come back to the homepage, that =
sucks!.

2. We should have a simple and for everyone *visible* main menu with some s=
ubsections. Here comes my suggestion, according to Michaels email and thoug=
hts from yesterday's meeting:


MEETINGS / ACTIVITIES
  - calendar
  - next meeting note
  - meeting notes (archive)
  - meeting / activities photos

MAILING-LISTs
  - different lists
  - apply for a list
  - lists archive

INFOS / NEWS
  - news
  - mailing-list RSS
  - Linux in China
  - Linux history
  - Wiki / FAQ =

  - links to Linux sites

ABOUT
  - about BLUG
  - contact

MEMBERS
  - member login (SSL!)
  - become a member (SSL!)
  - other members
  - members content

If we walso want attract business or corporate viewers/members we should ha=
ve a special section for companies, maybe with a little exchange or job-bor=
d!?

COMPANIES / CORPORATE
  - Linux in China (link to Info section)
  - Linux history (link to Info section)
  - listing of companies working with Linux in BJ / China
  - listing of organisations to support Linux in China
  - professional exchange / Linux experience
  - job-bord?


3. The homepage should include:
   - (animated) BLUG logo as a banner
   - welcome note
   - the main menu
   - anouncement for the next meeting
   - 2-3 photos from the last meetings
   - the calendar
   - the Linux news-feed
   - a mailing-list RSS feed?
   - members login
   - what's new on the site
