Re: Good IDE under Gnome

Well, Eclipse has been the defacto answer for quite a while now. And
it's Java, so Gnome, KDE, Winblows, whatever--it works well. I think
it's a great IDE.

But then, I don't really like using IDEs at all. I prefer the editor
called "scite". I does highlighting, etc, as one would want. And you can
do your compiles in it, making the editor jump to the failing line, and
so on. But there's none of the fancy project-organization hoo haa that
most large IDEs offer / force on you.

There's Anjuta, especially intended for Gnome development. I think it
kind of sucks.

And there's Kdevelop. Yes, it's KDE, but obviously it will run on the
Gnome window system, as long as you have sufficient libraries installed.
It's a great IDE as well.
