Fred, Graham, Richard and Jacques, First off, sorry for losing my cool with Jacques. Secondly, this is a LINUX USER GROUP, keywords USER GROUP, obviously it is my goal to try and steer the group to meet the interests of the group at large, whether it be Yang Rou Chuan or Networking. However, my intention is to stay focused on Open Source topics, and we use LINUX as our common demoninator to support that. A few contributors, Linux enthusiasts, who want to learn and share their experiences about Linux have been turned away because our list really has a lot of uninteresting banter. How did we solve this, split the list up, but how do we protect the general list? We will follow a simple rule of thumb - if it doesn't have to do with Open Source, keep it off the list and save it for our regular meetings. Lets try applying the rule - Memeber Information - hmmm, if we want to publish info about members and what they do, well, if they have skills or knowledge about open source then it can be published, however, if they work in a company that has nothing to do with open source, then i don't think it is relevant. However at our regular meetings if you see this person and think, hmmm, what does he do, then ask. Or perhaps you need an attorney, and you are at our regular meeting, then ask members if they know someone. BUT, if we publish info about members it will be kept strictly to their interest, with Open Source Technology, their specialties, with OPEN SOURCE Technology. PLEASE, lets move on from this. If you want to be apart of our member list, please e-mail Fred directly, our instigator ;), or [email protected] (me) and let us know how you would like to be listed, please contact us off list. The member list will be used as a way for us to direct inquiries and carry on dialogues off list - a friend finder of sorts. HAO BU HAO?
