Not to be condescending, but for the benefit of our honoured Chinese BLUG members, this is an apparently common phenomenon over here in China. Today, I had organized appointments for five applicants for the job. All had submitted CVs (all CVs sounded excellent). 4 of the 5 had practically zero Linux experience, even though my advertised 1st prerequisite was "strong Linux fundamentals" (yes, in both languages). The 5th didn't bother to come for the interview. The best Linux I got all day was "well, I know ls and pwd, but my Windows 2000 is very good!". Literally. Ls and pwd. Its disappointing, but tomorrow I shall renew my passion for China (after drowning my sorrows in a zhongguo pijiu or two tonight) and keep looking for a young girl or guy with a clue. I think my problem is mine, not China's. I'm obviously not advertising in the right places. Qinghua, BNU, Peking U. Any clues?
