Ah, I luv ya', Richard!  Got pretty much what I expected...

...I know that others don't much like this debate being here, so I'll make a few
summarizing comments, and then leave it alone -- others can judge the merits of
our individual arguments for themselves.

Your core responses all tend to rely on one central aspect: the argument that
"because it happens in other countries doesn't mean we should ignore it in
China".  And I agree 100% with that statement.

However, if you'd bothered to attempt understanding what I wrote, that wasn't
what I was talking about.  I wasn't talking about the EXISTENCE (or lack
thereof) of these problems; that is self-evident.  What I was talking about was
the CAUSES of those problems.

Your initial post posited a few suggestions as to the CAUSES of these problems;
I responded by demonstrating that A) those suggested causes were superficial and
inaccurate and B) other countries experience exactly the same problems, and that
therefore a BROADER examination of the matter is necessary in order to make any
conclusions.

I'm not taking offense on behalf of the Chinese culture; in fact, I find it hard
to 'take offense' at such half-baked and insubstantial claims as those you have
made here.  I am seeking merely to point out that A) your topic is NOT suitable
to these forums and B) if you want to argue that it IS suitable, then it is
entirely lacking in substance and merit.

It is very easy to identify the problems in China; and there are many, many such
problems.

Identifying the actual causes of those problems, and finding effective ways of
dealing with them, is far more difficult.  Uninformed and ignorant
generalizations such as those you made IMPEDE rather than FACILITATE any such
process.

You asked if I've built any buildings in China.  No, I haven't.

I have, however, worked as a consultant for numerous multinationals and
government agencies (both Chinese and foreign).  I've inevitably been called in
when those projects reach a crisis point where foreign and Chinese sides have
acute conflict and difficulty; and in almost every case, I've been able to find
ways to resolve those difficulties.

I don't want to take much more of your (or others') time here, but allow me to
point out that it is perspectives EXACTLY the same as the things that you have
said here -- inaccurate and fallacious assumptions/conclusions about Chinese
culture -- that is often the CAUSE of such problems.  And it is addressing those
misconceptions, and helping people gain a REAL understanding of the actual
problems, that leads to the most effective answers.

Your expertise is based, apparently, on failure to deal with these problems.  My
expertise is based on a consistent, long-term track record of resolving those
problems.

You choose which deserves greater consideration.
