To get back to Linux, I was reading a small preview of Fedora Core 2, Test 2 over at fedoranews.org. It seems these new distro's are really going to be something great. And I don't just mean an expansion of cool ideas like "Laptop Mode" kernel parameters that were introduced in FC1. FC2,T2 is not only using 2.6 kernel and 2.6 GNOME, but also the x.org server and is not using XFree86 anymore - as many distro's have chosen to do so (re: licensing issues). As kernel 2.6 is introducing standard and stable ACPI now, and GNOME is maturing (apparently 2.4 -> 2.6 is a big leap), (alas the new Ximian Evolution did not make it in) as is Open office (the review points to new icons and tool bars like what star office has). I mean this is just a FC/RH perspective. Does anybody else have any juicy tidbits from their favourite distro? Cya, RF. _______________________________________________ blug-general list [email protected] http://list.beijinglug.org/cgi-bin/mailman/listinfo/blug-general
