Probably no longer very feasible for a 2.5" traditional-internal SATA SSD.
What I'm seeing suggests that passage of time has had inevitable
effects, and that the market is abandoning SATA-connected drives for
NVMe / M.2 ones.

(Again, the CompuLab IntensePC lacks ability to connect the latter drives.
ISTR it has some sort of PCIe slot, but part of the aim of my system
design was to have a pair of _externally_-connected fast drives on a
fast, reliable connection, which for that time means eSATA.)

Searching "internal SSDs" at samsung.com, and picking "Key Category
Features" = "internal storage", one gets eight devices:  six NVMe 
sticks and two SATA-type SSDs.

Those two:  

1 of 2:  870 EVO SATA III 2.5" SSD 250GB  $32.99:  The "EVO" series is
OK, though generally what I look for is the PRO series.  But this is
just 250GB, which I already have.  (But man, is that ever dirt-cheap!)
The higher-capacity variants for the EVO model are greyed out,
suggesting they used to be available, but have sold out and are not
being restocked.  5-year warranty.


But, hey, a link for "business" customers offers the business-oriented
equivalents, and also in higher capacities:

Unfortunately, the offerings for "business" customers require a Samsung
Business Account.  And, to create that, even to purchase gear for the
business's own use without attempting to evade sales taxes, one is
required to upload one of these as "business verification":

• EIN Assignment Letter
• Articles of incorporation or equivalent documentation
• State sales tax license

I operated Rick Moen Network Consulting for many years as a real
sole-proprietorship, but was not incorporated, nor had a sales tax
licence (because I did't sell goods), nor did I have an IRS-issued
Employer ID Number.  So, evidently, Samsung would not accept Rick Moen
Network Consulting as a "business customer" (aimed at "exclusive volume
discounts on bulk purchases").

See, the problem is the type of flash.  The QvO series, unlike the EVO
and PRO series, uses QLC NAND flash, which is slower and more
problem-prone.  Accordingly, these drives have a 3-year (vs. 5-year
for more-desirable models with better tech.).  

I'm not rejecting that idea out of hand, certainly a pair of 2TB 
Samsung SSD drives for $300.68 + tax + shipping is pretty attractive,
and they'd not be top-grade but OTOH that's part of the point of
software RAID1.
