So ... a couple days ago, ate some food at a casual dining place (Maragume Udon, 1919 Shattuck Ave., Berkeley). And, unsurprisingly they wanted me to take their online survey. Okay, so I obliged them ... browser, incognito/private mode or the like, QR code ... Select rating on quantized smiley face scale, there's a box to add comments or whatever, and a submit button or the like, tap the submit button - okay, it doesn't want that text box for comments or the like left empty. Whatever. So, I type in some moderate little bit of appropriate relevant text ... and as I'm doing so, I notice a small progress bar, that initially shows almost no progress - just a little red bit on the left, and, it indicates Detail Strength. And as one types in more, the "Detail Strength" on the progress bar progresses ... getting longer, and working it's way apparently from red and short to green and long. Yeah, I think somebody repurposed a password entry Strength indicator, took off the bit that hides (e.g. replaces with * characters) the individual characters as they're entered, and, well, retitled the entry box from Password to Detail, ... thus Detail Strength and progress bar thereof as one enters a comment or the like there. Yeah, I don't think they really want to optimize that field for entropy (long, complex, random, highly unguessable ...), yet that's the feedback their progress bar is giving on Strength. Yeah, I think someone was unclear on the concept ... "oops".
