Recently I decided to get an inexpensive laptop to take travelling and not=
be concerned about all the personal data that might be lost or acquired by=
persons unknown.
On Amazon, I found an ASUS laptop.=C2=A0 With Win 11 it costs about $1200.=
=C2=A0 Same hardware with Ubuntu cost less than $300.=C2=A0 What's not to l=
ike?
I've updated the software several times since.=C2=A0 No surprise that the f=
irst time there was a lot to update after the factory install.
A couple times I have gotten a surprising message that the computer needed =
to be re-started to finish the update.=C2=A0 That is a standard "feature" o=
f Windoz, but I'd never encountered that in all the years I have used Unix =
and various Linux distros.=C2=A0 What happened?
