There are a couple of approaches.

   1. Are the computers networked together (ex. WiFi, Ethernet, etc.)
      - If yes, you can evaluate setting up a samba shared folder on the
      laptop and copying them over from the desktop
      - This can be a bit technical to set up and not super user friendly
      (even if trying to do it between two windows machines!)
      - This would be a good option if you wanted to keep updating files
      between the machines.
   2. Use an external drive or USB stick
      - This is probably going to be by far the easiest way "technically"
      to get the files shared between the machines
      - The viability of this method depends on how much data you have to
      move (i.e. are we talking 100Gb of pics and videos... or 1-2mb of word
      docs?)
