[DLC] Tutorial: An Introduction to Shell and Perl Scripting for Network Operators

This Friday at 4:00 PM  to 5:00 PM in CDM 802, as part of the CDM
Network Seminar Series, there will be part one of a two part tutorial
given by yours truly.  Those of you on this list may find it of
interest.  While geared toward network operators, much of what is in
this tutorial is relevant to sysadmins.

  An Introduction to Shell and Perl Scripting for Network Operators

  Being able to develop or customize simple tools using shell or Perl
  scripts is a skill all network operators should possess. This tutorial
  is a survey of basic shell and Perl scripting practices with a
  particular focus on examples that can be put into practice for those
  who administer networks.  A set of scripts, from simple to the more
  complex, provide a backdrop to the instruction with actual example
  implementations students can learn and build from.  While this
  tutorial is too short to be comprehensive, newcomers can expect to
  come away with enough knowledge to start customizing the example tools
  or developing their own useful tools.  Students are expected to be
  familiar with Unix system administration and networking technology.
  Prior programming experience in or out of the classroom would be
  helpful.
