"The UK government is in the process of making important selections about which open standards to mandate the use of for sharing-collaborating-government-documents. Currently ODF is being promoted for editable documents. You have until the 26th Feb to add a comment and thereby have a bit of influence to something relevant to this list. http://standards.data.gov.uk/proposal/sharing-collaborating-government- documents Some comments would like Microsoft OOXML added as a second standard based on it being defacto. Bear in mind the methods used by Microsoft to influence ISO to approve OOXML. e.g. In some cases letters from Microsoft business partners trumped the advice of long term members of their technical committees.
