Not necessarily KDE, but have you looked at Cinnamon or MATE in Mint -

"My laptop has Ubuntu with KDE (see kubuntu.org). My desktop machine
has Debian with KDE. I won't claim either is the best distribution for
KDE (although for all I know they may be), but they both work well
enough.

You should be able to switch from GNOME (or Unity, or whatever) to KDE
without a reinstall.
