DNS servers

Just out of curiousity.
When everyone connects to the internet and you need to manually set up
a DNS server in your network settings. Do you use your ISPs Dns
server, ip number or do you use the google dns server ip numbers of
8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4
I guess if there was a big problem with the internet google wouldn't
be able to be reached whereas... your isp's own dsp server should
always be there.
