(no subject)

Today this was because I wanted to follow Worik's suggestion and get
Shotwell, to replace Picasa.  When I try to do the routine keeping system
up to date by clicking on the reminder I get a whole lot of FAILED so
haven't been able to do that for several months.  It's probably simple but
I'm scared - the number of times I've tried to do something simple but my
Thumbs of Doom create messes impossible to replicate by normal means.
