OK. I splashed out $80 and have a HL 1210W.
tl;dr It does not work. The logs all say it does. The interweb is
silent as far as I can tell.
I have installed the drivers from Brother and I can see it on the Web
CUPS interface.
But the instructins say:
vvvvvvvvvvvvvvv
Check if the Device URI of your printer is *"usb://Brother/(your
printer's model name)"*
If the device URI is different from the example above, please go to
"Modify Printer" of your printer to select proper device and driver.
^^^^^^^^^^^^^^
But the Connection is ...
"usb://Brother/HL-1210W%20series?serial=E745363J4N22789 and it should be
according to http://support.brother.com.... "usb://Brother/HL-1210W" In
this case the instructions tell me to...
"If the device URI is different from the example above, please go to
"Modify Printer" of your printer to select proper device and driver."
But I do not think that is a biggie, and it is the only option I can select.
The printer is connected, turnd on.
lsusb says: "Bus 002 Device 010: ID 04f9:006a Brother Industries, Ltd "
When I print a test page from the CUPS interface the job is listed as
completed, but there is nothing on the printer.
When I print from gedit the same thing happens (and happens not).

PS: Any windows users want to but a cheaper brother laser printer?
