What sort of modem did you install? USB, serial, PCI? What brand is it?
If USB, does it show with lsusb, if PCI does it show on lspci? If
serial, what happens when you try talking to /dev/ttyS0? What have you
tried to do to get Ubuntu to see it? What results did you have? What
brand is it? What model of that brand?
