Warehouse Stationary Printers and USB Sticks

I have a Warehouse Stationary card and a USB stick so I should be happy
but the machine does not respect my USB stick.

What is the best way to format a USB stick so it will be read by them?

My memory tells me I formatted the stick NTFS of VFAT which should both
be OK, but when I mount the stick via Thunar I see it described as "type
fuseblk".

Now I am confused.
