Government seems to have noticed there's a disadvantage in being hostage to "licensed to print money" companies: http://www.stuff.co.nz/technology/digital-living/8276283/Silverstripe-gets-thumbs-up The Government expects to save at least $500,000 a year after giving bureaucrats a "strong steer" to build websites using free open source software developed by Wellington company Silverstripe. I'm wondering, will Silverstripe be able to sell its product all locked up and untouchable like a MS product? Or does open source have to stay alive even when someone builds and sells a packaged product using it?
