I was there and his lecture was quite good (even though I was so tired I fell asleep near the end of it) and the Dangerous Enthusiasms book he wrote was specifically pointed out to me at the time of publication as something I should read if I ever got involved with big projects - this came out around the time the new police computer system INCIS was in the news. Unfortunately, I've never got around to reading it. He mentioned that due to Novopay, and an equivalent US failure, his book has just been reprinted at the end of last year - you can buy the paperback version on Amazon at http://www.amazon.com/Dangerous-Enthusiasms-E-Government-Information-Development/dp/187737234X/ (over the course of a month the asking price on Amazon went from $1300 -sought after but out of print- down to $40 as it was reprinted).
