Making a bootable USB. NON ubuntu

I have a need to create a bootable USB that is not ubuntu.
On my ubuntu laptop I tried using the "startup disk creator" that works
well for ubuntu or mythbuntu images but refuses to use an iso image from
linhes (http://www.linhes.org/).
What other ways are there to make a bootable USB?
