Error con autenticación SASL

Hola amigos, estoy configurando la autenticación SASL
para darle acceso a usuarios remotos, tengo suse 10.1,
es cyrus sasl, he configurado el archivo
/usr/lib/sasl2/smtpd.conf con lo siguiente:
pwcheck_method: saslauthd
mech_list: plain login
log_level: 3
saslauthd_path : /var/run/sasl2/mux

Ejecuto lo siguiente para ver los mecanismos de
autenticación:
#saslauthd -v
saslauthd 2.1.21
authentication mechanisms: getpwent kerberos5 pam
rimap shadow ldap

ejecuto lo siguiente:

server:/usr/lib/sasl2 # telnet derisa.com.ni 25

ehlo derisa.com.ni

Luego hago la prueba de para verificar si acepta el
mecanismo de autenticación copn lo siguiente:

535 Error: authentication failed

reviso el log y esto es loq ue me da:

SASL authentication failure: Can only find author/en
(no password)

server.derisa.com.ni[165.98.167.111]: SASL PLAIN
authentication failed


También probé

testsaslauthd -u [email protected] -p Adlsi2811
0: NO "authentication failed"

Esto me dice que el sasl está fallando, pero no se
donde pueda estar el error.
