That would make me suspect foil backed wallpaper or foil backed Gib.
I have been caught by both of those in places that I didn't suspect.
The easiest way to test for this without fancy gear is to :
     do a test up close to the wall on one side,
     then another test up close on the other side.
Since the wall is only 100mm thick the results should be identical.
If there is a significant difference, then there is something in the wall.
