If yes, then you should see the status page for the OpenDNS servers. This means that DNS has not been set up properly in your Ubuntu 9.10 install. You can fix this problem by going to the terminal and typing: /sudo apt-get install resolvconf/. If you did not see the OpenDNS status page then there may be a problem with your network settings (Are you on DHCP?).
