What is the contents of /etc/resolv.conf?

Can you resolve hostnames if you do:

sudo mv /etc/resolv.conf /etc/resolv.conf.bak
sudo echo "nameserver 208.67.222.222" >/etc/resolv.conf

Are things better then?
